Most of the major websites where we (Realtors) market our listings has one major flaw - the inability to hear the true story of a home, before a buyer enters the home. Here is that true story of 182 Silvermine Avenue, from my perspective.

On my first visit to this home, I immediately felt at home, given my childhood spent in Silvermine. This area maintains a history, and charm, that is unmatched in Norwalk. In this case, going down the driveway, to the home that is set far off the main road, you get an air of privacy that is unexpected elsewhere in town.

The quiet and private setting is propagated by the woods surrounding the home. Despite the setting, the acre of land is green, lush, and perfect for playing a game of soccer or kickball, because of its sheer size. There are also matured plantings, giving a great initial curb appeal, and beauty.
Upon entering the home, you immediately find that every need is satisfied - You enter into a foyer, with center hallway directly to kitchen, and stairs to the bedrooms that are on the second level. On the left, you immediately enter a spacious living room that can be used for many purposes. The character-rich corner fireplace at the end of the room further adds to the quality.

The large windows allow light, but you cannot see your neighbors, and they can't see you. Hardwood throughout the main level enables a level of cleanliness that is desired with today's buyers. Exit to the large deck from this living room, or journey to the half bath, and kitchen from this area.
The kitchen has some newer appliances, and has a size that creates great future potential, once the kitchen is done serving it's useful life - though many years away. The kitchen also has access to the deck, through a small laundry room. Luckily, the space in the basement can accommodate moving that laundry room, if desired in the future. This kitchen also accesses the 2 car garage, with high ceilings, and plenty of space. Otherwise, go right through to the dining room.
This dining room, also with hardwood floors is large, with enough space for a huge table. The two french doors leading to kitchen and hallway add further charm. As with the rest of the home, there is no absence of natural light, due to newer windows. But what really sets this home apart, is up the few steps, to a family room that is built perfectly for any buyer.

This family room really has it all. The current owners use it as a library, and it really is any bibliophile's dream library. The cathedral ceilings, Palladian window at the center, multiple other windows, and beams, make this the selling point of this home. There are hardwood floors, and space enough for this to be the room you spend all of your time in.
In my experience, every buyer is looking for one thing when it comes to the second level, and that is spacious bedrooms. 182 Silvermine Avenue does no disappoint. The hardwood floors throughout the second level, and the big bedrooms make these spaces perfect. The ample storage closets also add to the appeal. The common, full bathroom is in great condition, as is the bathroom in the master suite. There are sliders in the master that allow natural light, and fresh air, when necessary.

I typically stress the importance of potential in any home my buyer might purchase. The inherent potential in this case, is in the basement - with high ceilings, and a second corner-fireplace, this basement is the perfect space for future expansion. It even has access to the back yard, through a walk-out door (not a Bilco door). With no sign of water ever having been in the basement, it is a perfect candidate for that expansion.

182 Silvermine has everything my buyers typically look for - it is a colonial, with a large family room, some potential in basement and ultimately in the kitchen, a large, flat yard, a deck, 4 large bedrooms upstairs, hardwood throughout, and so much more. This, all for $499,000, located in historic Silvermine, secluded, private, yet 5 minutes from the highway and Merritt.
I may be a salesperson by career, but I don't need to sell this one. I just need to urge the necessity for haste, if you are to buy this home.
